THE OYSTER PERPETUAL 36 BY ROLEX
An explosion of colors. Masterful technique. A flourishing legacy. The Oyster Perpetual 36 displays a multicolored lacquer dial decorated with the Jubilee motif.
PERLA--This Jubilee motif, which draws on the brand’s aesthetic heritage, is the result of a truly virtuoso achievement in dial creation. Through the unique radiance of its face, the new Oyster Perpetual 36 celebrates the inventiveness of the brand and its dial-making artistry.
On the dial, the letters of the Rolex name form a joyful and sophisticated composition.
In the subtlest yet most modern way, the dial of the Oyster Perpetual 36 revisits the Jubilee motif introduced at the end of the 1970s, which has since become iconic. It displays the letters of the Rolex name in a contrasting interplay of no fewer than ten colors. Executing this pattern presents a significant challenge, as the colors are applied not all at once, but one after the other. The utmost precision is also required to ensure that all the shapes and letters making up the motif are positioned perfectly.
The new version of the Oyster Perpetual 36 is crafted from Oystersteel. This special alloy with outstanding sheen is exclusively produced for Rolex. It belongs to the 904L steel family. These alloys are most commonly used in high-technology environments, such as the aerospace and chemical industries. Their excellent anti-corrosion properties are comparable to those of precious metals.
The Oyster case of the Oyster Perpetual 36 is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet). The middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel and crowned with a domed bezel. Its case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool employed by approved watchmakers. The Twinlock winding crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and benefits from an anti-reflective coating. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimal protection for the movement it houses.
Developed in the late 1930s, the Oyster bracelet is fitted on all the watches in the Oyster Perpetual range. Robust, comfortable and elegant, this metal bracelet comprises rows of three broad and slightly curved links. The Oyster bracelet on the Oyster Perpetual 36 is equipped with an Oysterclasp and also includes the Easylink comfort extension link, which allows the wearer to easily adjust the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm for instant additional comfort.
